A new gateway entrance at Lambton College is expected to be complete for when students return this fall.
The Sarnia school is reconstructing its London Road entrance as a way to improve access to the campus and make the college feel more welcoming.
President and CEO Rob Kardas said a lot is planned.
"The London Road Gateway is going to include new and updated northbound traffic lanes, sidewalks, lighting, branded signage, and conceptual concrete paving designs. So when you hit that gateway, you're going to know you're coming into a college."
Kardas said it's part of phase two of upgrades at the college. Phase one included newly updated traffic lanes, sidewalks, lighting, concrete paving and crosswalks installed at the Wellington Road Gateway.
"The gateways will be done by the end of August and then there is going to be a phase three landscaping project that's really going to connect the two gateways with grasslands and naturalized project, which is going to take two to three years to mature."
Northbound traffic at the London Road entrance will be closed for about eight to 10 weeks and southbound traffic will be open with delays. The Wellington Street entrance will be fully operational.
Kardas said it'll cost approximately $2.4 million for the entire campus road entrances and land enhancements. Cope Construction was brought on to complete the work.
