Sting sign three players for upcoming OHL season

The Sarnia Sting have signed three players for the upcoming Ontario Hockey League season.

The team announced Wednesday that Ben Lalkin, Alexis Daviault, and Andrei Malyavin have all agreed to standard player agreements.

Lalkin was selected 30th overall in this year's OHL draft, while Daviault was taken 52nd. Malyavin was the Sting's choice, 24th overall, in the CHL Import Draft.

Lalkin, a 5 foot 9 power forward, recorded 34 goals and 15 assists in 18 games with his hometown Mississauga U15 Reps during the 2019-20 season.

Daviault, a 5 foot 11 defenceman from Orleans, Ontario, scored 11 goals and added six assists in 28 games with the Eastern Ontario Wild in 2019-20.

Malyavin, a 5 foot 10, 143-pound left-shooting defenceman from Voronezh, Russia recorded three goals and 18 assists in 24 games in 2019-20 with the Lokomotive-2004 Yaroslavl U16 team.

The Sting begin the 2021-22 OHL season on October 7 in Windsor, and they'll host the Spitfires the following night.

The team expects to announce details of this year's training camp soon.
