Sarnia-Lambton COVID death toll reaches 64

The COVID-19 death toll in Sarnia-Lambton has risen to 64.

Lambton Public Health reported the latest death in its daily update Monday.

Bluewater Health reported a 65-year-old woman died in hospital. There are no COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down one from Sunday.

Since the start of the pandemic over a year ago, the health unit has recorded 3,625 cases of the virus, of which 3,552 have been deemed resolved, resulting in nine active infections.

The number of infections involving variants of concern has risen to 667 since March 3, including 29 linked to the Delta variant.

There is one institutional outbreak at Afton Park Place in Sarnia, where fewer than five cases have been reported.
