Pathways erects legacy sign to honour Rotary Club of Sarnia

Pathways Health Centre for Children is thanking the Rotary Club of Sarnia for all of its support over the past 45 years.

Pathways recently unveiled a new legacy sign at its Murphy Road site to honour the founding and long-term commitment of the rotary club.

Executive Director Alison Morrison said the club has been a support every step of the way.

"So this legacy sign honours their founding and long-term commitment to Pathways and to the children that Pathways serves with physical, communication and developmental needs," she said. "[They've helped] with every expansion, with every new program we brought in. Most recently they were our lead contributors to the therapeutic pool with an investment of $600,000 over 10 years."

Morrison said the Rotarians were the first to envision a children's treatment centre in the Sarnia-Lambton community so that children and families didn't have to travel outside the area for help.

"We just celebrated our 45th anniversary and the Rotarians have been with us right from the very start, so it's very fitting for us to display this for our community as a symbol of that long-term relationship."

Rotary Club President Mike Elliott said Rotarians have been supportive of the kind of work done by Pathways and the children and youth that it serves.

"We are happy to enable this work with our donations that come from the hard work of our membership in continuously raising funds to help our community. Pathways is a special place in our community, a legacy we can be proud of," said Elliott.

In a media release from Pathways, the organization said it has provided services and supports to thousands of children and youth since their doors opened in 1975. Today, over 2,600 children and youth receive support each year, whether at the centre, or in schools and licensed childcare centres, hubs throughout the county or through ZOOM.
