Police ask motorists to use caution on Lakeshore Road during memorial walk

Provincial police in Lambton County asked drivers to be mindful while travelling on Highway 21 around Lambton Shores on Canada Day.

A memorial traffic slow-down event to honour residential school survivors and victims in the area of Lakeshore Road went on for through the majority of Thursday afternoon.

Just before 8 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the area was clear of pedestrians and the walk was conducted without any incidents.

Throughout the memorial, OPP and Anishinabek police were on scene to ensure the safe flow of traffic while providing a safe and peaceful environment for the event to occur in.

Those travelling in the area were asked to use extra caution and be aware of pedestrians and vehicles that may have been on or near the side of the road participating in the walk.

Police are thanking the public for their cooperation.
