Sarnia-Lambton active COVID caseload down ten

The local active COVID-19 case count has dropped to 28.

Lambton Public Health reported the number of cases deemed resolved increased by 10 to 3,510.

The health unit reported no new cases of the virus Wednesday, leaving the caseload since the start of the pandemic at 3,600.

There is one active outbreak at Afton Park Place in Sarnia. Fewer than five cases are linked to the long-term care home.

Lambton Public Health said the local rate of infection increased to 30.5 per 100,000 population for the week of June 20 to 26, up from 11.5 the week before. The positivity rate also went up to 1.97 per cent from 1.19 per cent.

Since the vaccine rollout started on January 26, 2021, the health unit has administered 122,852 doses, including 40,723 second shots. Nearly 73 per cent of the eligible adult population has had at least one dose, just under 38 per cent is fully vaccinated.

Bluewater Health had two COVID-positive patients in hospital, unchanged in the last 24 hours.
