Drive-thru Ribfest ready for Sarnia

The intoxicating aroma of smoked ribs will be wafting over the Lambton College property this Father's Day weekend.

The Sarnia Kinsmen Drive Thru Ribfest will be set up in the campus parking lot.

Chair Jack Struck said over 9,000 people have indicated online that they have plans to attend.

"We'll see what happens, but if it's a nice weekend, yes, we're going to have a good crowd and the ribbers are ready for it," said Struck. "They're as hungry for the community as we are hungry to be able to give something back to the community. It's been two years, just about, since we've actually given to people that we donate money to. We've given them a little bit, but nothing to what we usually give."

In past years, the Kinsmen have collected over $10,000 in cash donations to help over 30 charities.

Struck said three of the top ribbers in Ontario, Jack The Ribber, Route 55, and Silver Bullet, will be serving food.

"One ribber has a refrigerated transport and he said that it will be full, and if they run out, all they have to do is make a phone call."

Struck is encouraging attendants to print off the menu at SarniaKinRibfest.com and fill out their order before they arrive.

Vehicles will be welcomed into the campus off London Road, directed to the ribber of their choice in the parking lot on the west side of the college, and then they can either go home to eat or eat on site.

"There will be 40 different tents, there's about 30 feet between each tent, and you drive up, get out of your car and go sit down."

Ribfest goes Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Struck said the ribbers will accept cash, debit and credit cards.
