Sting make three picks, including Mooretown native, in U18 draft

The Sarnia Sting have added three more players to the team ahead of the upcoming Ontario Hockey League season.

The league held its U18 draft on Wednesday afternoon.

Sarnia selected defenceman Brock Reinhart of the Guelph Gryphons U18 AAA team in the opening round, 9th overall. He had a goal and 10 assists in 31 games played in 2019-20.

Goalie Nicholas Surzycia of the Toronto Titans U18 AAA squad was taken in the 2nd round.

In the third round, the Sting chose Mooretown native Owen MacDonald from the Lambton Jr. Sting. The defenceman had a pair of goals and 7 assists in 33 games played in 2019-20.

MacDonald's Jr. Sting teammate, Jason Bacchus, went 21st overall to Niagara. The Sarnia native had two goals and an assist in 19 games in 2019-20.
