Sarnia woman cries tears of joy with $100K lotto win

A 37-year-old Sarnia woman is going to wait until the pandemic is over before she decides how to spend a portion of her lottery winnings.

Amy Senchuk won $100,000 after matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in a Lotto 6/49 draw, held on April 10.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said Senchuk plays the lottery on a regular basis.

“I was checking tickets using the OLG Lottery App while in my car," she said in a statement. "When I saw the big winner screen, I couldn’t believe it. I called my fiancé crying!”

Although Senchuk plans to hold onto some of her winnings to spend post-pandemic, the OLG said she does plan to share some of the money with her family and pay off some bills.

The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s on Exmouth Street in Sarnia.

Senchuk was not able to pick up her lotto winnings from the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto due to current COVID-9 restrictions.

Appointments for in-person prize claims are only made for those that require a face-to-face interview. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098.
