Postmortem exams conducted on bodies found in Petrolia home

Lambton OPP are still investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were discovered in a Petrolia home last week.

Officers were conducting a wellbeing check on Portland Street when they located two deceased parties around 11:50 a.m. Monday, May 17.

In an update Tuesday, May 25, Constable Jamie Bydeley said postmortem examinations have been performed on a 63-year-old male and an 84-year-old female, but further testing will be conducted by Ontario Forensic Pathology Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

He said Lambton OPP's crime unit members continue to investigate, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

Police believe the incident was isolated and said there was no threat to public safety.
