OPP detachment staying open despite rumours

Lambton OPP is assuring the public the Corunna detachment is not closing next month.

Social media posts have been circulating, stating that the unit on Lyndoch Street would be closing its doors on June 6.

OPP Constable Jamie Bydeley said there are no scheduled dates to close the detachment.

"There has not been a decision to close the Corunna detachment yet, just to clarify some of the rumours going around, no, there has not been a decision to close Corunna detachment," said Bydeley.

There are about 25 officers and civilian employees working at the Lyndoch Street detachment.

There's a total of four OPP detachments in Lambton County, at Petrolia, Grand Bend, Point Edward and Corunna.
