Sarnia-Lambton COVID cases up 11, active infections up five

Lambton Public Health reported a double digit increase in COVID-19 cases Friday.

The health unit said since the start of the pandemic, there have been 3,441 cases, up 11 from Thursday. The number of cases considered resolved increased by five to 3,311.

Lambton Public Health also reported this area's 59 fatality linked to the virus. On Thursday, Bluewater Health reported the death of a Lambton area man in his 60's.

The number of active infections increased by five to 71. Cases involving variants of concern have climbed to 542 since March 3.

There are three institutional and workplace outbreaks, unchanged since Thursday.

Bluewater Health had 11 COVID-positive patients in hospital, up one in the last 24 hours.
