MOH increasingly optimistic about local COVID trend

Lambton Public Health reported seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Tuesday.

Since the start of the pandemic there's been 3,269 infections locally, of which 3,139 are considered resolved, up six over the last 24 hours. The active case count edged higher by one to 74.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade is becoming increasingly optimistic.

"Generally good, things are kind of holding steady right now in terms of our cases but I think it's all kind of coming together into a place where as we vaccinate more people, we learn more about the vaccines and we're seeing better outcomes among vaccinated people ," said Ranade. "I'm getting more optimistic about how things are going."

The number of workplace and institutional outbreaks remains at five.

Bluewater Health has 13 COVID-positive patients in hospital, unchanged from Monday.
