Rebound raffling off Camaro to support struggling youth

Rebound is raffling off a bright yellow Chevy Camaro to help raise funds for struggling youth in Sarnia-Lambton.

Marketing Coordinator Anita Minielly said tickets are $100 and going fast.

"Ticket sales have taken off, pun intended with the car, so yeah, things are going really well," said Minielly. "People are loving the colour of it -- we've heard lots of great comments about the "shock" colour. And just the fact that there are only 1,500 tickets, the odds of winning are really good."

Minielly said it's the first time they're trying out the raffle alongside MacFarlane Chevrolet Buick GMC in Petrolia.

She said they're hoping to raise around $100,000.

"We're seeing a great need for youth that are struggling and are reaching out to Rebound for help. So by supporting this car raffle, you're supporting the youth in our community," she said. "Rebound does receive some funding, but as every other not-for-profit is experiencing, our fundraising efforts are falling short because we're not able to do events."

Minielly said the raffle is a nice replacement for the Annual Hearts and Handbags designer bag fundraiser.

"As much fun as we had doing the Hearts and Handbags the first year [in 2019], unfortunately we just can't gather, so this will be a nice fill-in for now," she said. "If the raffle is a huge success, and if MacFarlanes is up for it, we might just have to do another one. We are definitely hoping to do the Hearts and Handbags in 2022."

Minielly said there's also a second place prize of $2,500 up for grabs.

The draw date will be June 21, the day after Father’s Day.
