Weekly COVID incidence rate trending lower

Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 incidence rate continues to trend lower.

The rate of infection per 100,000 population was 89 for the week of April 4 to 10, down from 102 the week before. The positivity rate however increased to 2.8 per cent from 2.4 per cent.

Lambton Public Health reported just six new confirmed cases of the virus Wednesday, for a total of 3,064 since the pandemic started over a year ago. The number of cases considered resolved increased by 17 to 2,906, lowering the number of active infections by 11 to 104.

The number of active outbreaks dropped by one over the last 24 hours to one.

Bluewater Health had 10 COVID-positive patients in hospital, down one from Tuesday.  Three of those patients are in intensive care and two are on ventilators.

To date, 35,443 Lambton residents have received a COVID-19 vaccine, including 1,575 who have had both shots. That's 31 per cent of the eligible population.
