Two Kitchener residents arrested in Sarnia drug bust

Sarnia police seized drugs, a stolen vehicle, and a weapon after an investigation into drug trafficking in the 900 block of Wellington Street.

On April 10, an officer ran the plates of a vehicle being driven by suspected traffickers, and determined it was reported stolen on April 5 from the Waterloo Region.

At around 1:35 a.m., police said a man and woman entered the vehicle. It was blocked in by police, and the suspects were arrested without incident.

Police said a search of the vehicle found about 29 grams of suspected red fentanyl, 25 grams of methamphetamine, 1.2 grams of cocaine, and a sword with a 12-inch blade in the driver’s side door.

Je Vang, 48, and Thao Cha, 54, both of Kitchener, are each charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Vang is also facing two counts of failing to attend court.

Both were being held in police custody pending bail hearings.
