Yet another championship for impressive Lambton College Enactus team

The Lambton College Enactus team has added another championship to its crowded trophy case.

For the eighth time in nine years, the team has been crowned Central Canadian Champions and has clinched a spot in this year's national championship in May.

Faculty Advisor Jon Milos said the team won for work it did with three First Nations in Saskatchewan.

"They were working on a project for food security, with a goal of bringing food security, economic development and employment to those communities," said Milos. "Together with them, we settled on building greenhouses, aeroponic facilities and food forests."

Milos said the three projects will allow the First Nation communities to significantly increase their food production, create employment and potentially commercialize the projects in the next year or two.

He said the team continues to scale and expand their works.

"It's amazing that we are getting calls weekly from nations that would like us to come in and to begin helping them with their food security, economic development and general prosperity on their nations."

Milos said since 2012, the Enactus Team has accomplished a lot.

"This tiny little college in Sarnia, Ontario has won 13 national championships for our work in First Nations and in Zambia, Africa, and they've won a world championship and finished second in the world," he said. "We think this is great for Sarnia-Lambton. It shows the province and the nation what a small group of very dedicated students can do."
