Marinaro and partner rebound to match previous best in world competition

Sarnia's Michael Marinaro and partner Kirsten Moore-Towers placed 6th overall in the pairs competition at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships.

The competition was held in Stockholm, Sweden this week.

The duo was 10th in the short program, but rebounded with a 5th place finish in the free skate portion.

Marinaro was pleased to have a bounce back performance.

"We’re definitely proud of the skate today, considering the circumstances," said Marinaro. "A very short season, a lot to take away, a lot of lessons learned over the past two months that we can carry into next season."

They captured a total of 195.29 points, while the first place pair from Russia had 227.59.

The result matched their previous best at the world championships, set in 2018.

Marinaro and Moore-Towers have finished inside the top eight in all four trips to the world championships.
