Point Edward firefighters rescue injured man from docked ship

A man was rescued from a ship at the foot of Exmouth Street Tuesday after being injured while working onboard.

Point Edward Fire and Rescue responded to a vessel docked for repairs at the Cestar Dock, formerly known as the North Slip, just after 2:30 p.m.

Fire officials said the man was working in the engine room when he was injured.

Firefighters helped Lambton EMS package the man, and safely remove him from below deck for transport to hospital.

The extent of his injuries and current condition were unknown.

A Transport Canada Inspector has been assigned to investigate the incident under the Canada Labour Code.
