New COVID cases up 40, over 180 St. Pat's students isolating

Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 cases continued to trend higher Monday with another 40 new infections reported.

Lambton Public Health said the total number of cases since March 25, 2020 increased to 2,626.

There were 20 more resolved cases for a total of 2,336, putting the active case count at 243, up 20 from Sunday.

Deaths remained unchanged at 47 and institutional and school outbreaks held steady over the last 24 hours at 14. Seven long-term care and retirement homes and seven schools were in outbreak including St. Patrick's High School in Sarnia where 182 students were isolating including 74 bus students. There were seven confirmed student cases and one confirmed staff case at the school and seven cohorts were isolating at home. The St. Clair Catholic District school board was reporting at least one student or staff case in six Lambton schools, and as of Monday, there were 19 impacted schools in the Lambton Kent District School Board.

Bluewater Health still had five positive patients in hospital Monday.

New confirmed cases in Lambton have increased by a total of 112 over the past three days.
