Lambton Public Health looking for contacts of COVID-positive cab driver

Lambton Public Health (LPH) is looking for residents who may have come in close contact with a taxi driver who has tested positive for COVID-19.

The health unit put out a call late Wednesday afternoon to members of the public who used Greg's Taxi Service late last week.

Anyone who travelled with the cab company on trips greater than 15 minutes on March 11 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. or on March 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. should contact LPH immediately at 519-383-8331. Local health officials said they need to investigate the level of risk for each interaction and offer guidance to members of the public.

Supervisor of Health Protection Lori Lucas said they're taking steps to work with Greg's Taxi to collect information about its passengers’ trips on the days in question, but not all contact information is available.

“It is difficult to trace this person’s close contacts because of the nature of the taxi-cab industry, and we know that this taxi driver would have been in a confined space with members of the public while operating the taxi,” said Lucas. “These reasons make it imperative that we release these details to the public, so that we can speak with anyone who used this service and give them the best guidance possible.”
