Significant drop in active COVID cases in Sarnia-Lambton

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Sarnia-Lambton dropped significantly Tuesday due to a sizeable increase in resolved cases.

Lambton Public Health reported 10 new confirmed infections for a total of 2,115 since the start of the pandemic nearly a year ago.

Resolved cases went up 35 to 1,996, the death toll was unchanged at 46, lowering the active case count to 73 from 98 on Monday.

There are still six institutional and workplace outbreaks, unchanged in the last 24 hours.

The Lambton Kent District School Board reported that a student at Sarnia's Queen Elizabeth II Public School tested positive. The school is open.

Six classes in St. Clair Catholic schools are now closed after student cases were reported at Gregory A. Hogan in Sarnia, Holy Rosary in Wyoming and at St. Joseph Catholic School in Corunna.

Bluewater Health reported having two positive patients in hospital Tuesday, up one.
