The Town of Plympton-Wyoming is reviewing 19 applications for its fire chief position.

Chief Administrative Officer Carolyn Tripp said they hope to select individuals to be interviewed this week. She doesn’t expect a decision to be made until sometime in March with the new director of fire and emergency services starting in April or May.

Trip said she and the acting fire chief will review the applications and select appropriate candidates, based on the requested experience, skills and education. Their recommendations will be forwarded to the fire executive committee, which will select candidates for interviews and conduct those interviews with the mayor.

Council will make the final decision.

The controversial tenure of fire chief Steve Clemens ended with his resignation October 23, 2020.

The town reached what it called a “mutually-acceptable resolution of all employment-related issues” with former District Fire Chief Jeff Scott in December.

Scott was among three longstanding members of the fire department who claimed they were wrongfully dismissed last February.
