Latest COVID numbers in Sarnia-Lambton encouraging

Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 numbers are showing signs of improvement.

Active cases dropped by 22 over the last 24 hours to 72.

Lambton Public Health reported just three new confirmed cases Wednesday for a total of 2,038, while the number of recoveries went up 25 to 1,920.

Active institutional outbreaks dropped by one to five.

The outbreak declared on February 12 at Landmark Village Retirement Home, after one staff member tested positive, has ended.

The health unit's website said Wednesday that the area's incidence rate per 100,000 population, the week of February 14 to the 20th, fell to 56 from 60 the week before. The positivity rate was at 1.9 per cent.

Bluewater Health had no positive patients in hospital.

Vaccinations have resumed including at Bluewater Health's Sarnia and Petrolia sites. About 400 more people had received their first doses for a total of 1,554.
