A dozen new COVID cases, Vision outbreaks declared over

Lambton Public Health reported a dozen new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

In its daily update Thursday, the health unit said the number of confirmed cases of the virus since late March 2020 is now at 1,981.

Resolved cases increased by seven to 1,847, the death toll remained unchanged at 46, pushing the active case count up five to 88.

Active institutional and workplace outbreaks dropped by two to six. Outbreaks declared at Vision Rest Home and Vision Nursing Home have ended. Three residents at the Wellington Street retirement home died and a total of 32 residents and 16 staff tested positive.

The Lambton Kent District School Board is reporting two positive student cases at Great Lakes Secondary School. There are still four student cases at North Lambton Secondary School. Both schools remain open.

Bluewater Health had two positive patients in hospital.
