Sarnia-Lambton's MPP made his second significant funding announcement in as many days Tuesday.
Bob Bailey said $6.2 million in Ontario Community Infrastructure Funding will be invested in communities across the riding to address local infrastructure needs.
“It is a privilege to support our local municipalities through this funding, which is especially critical during the current COVID-19 pandemic,” said Bailey. “With more than $6.2 million in support, our government is helping Sarnia-Lambton municipalities when the need is most urgent. This funding will create jobs, spur economic growth and investment, and make our communities better places to live and grow.”
Bailey said the funding will help eight local municipalities build and repair roads, bridges, water and wastewater infrastructure.
The City of Sarnia receives the lions share, just over $2.8 million, while St. Clair Township gets almost $1.16 million and the County of Lambton $1.1 million.
Funding is also being allocated to Oil Springs, Point Edward, Enniskillen, Petrolia and Plympton-Wyoming.
Bailey said the funding is part of Ontario's approximately $200 million commitment to 424 communities to help them address their core infrastructure projects and asset management planning needs in 2021
