Eight long-term care homes in Sarnia-Lambton are getting additional funding to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On Monday, Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey announced the provincial government is providing over $1.5 million to increase prevention and containment efforts during the pandemic's second wave.
Bailey said the funding will be used to continue 24/7 screening of residents, staff and caregivers entering the buildings for symptoms and potential exposure to COVID-19.
It will also be used to hire new staff for cleaning, equipment and operating supplies, and implementing infection control measures.
“The health and safety of both residents and staff at our local long-term care homes is the first priority of our government," said Bailey. "This additional prevention and containment funding is a key pillar of our pledge to support these facilities in the deadly fight against COVID-19.”
Trillium Villa Nursing Home is getting nearly $400,000, Fiddick's Nursing Home $330,000, Vision Nursing Home $200,000, Afton Park Place about $190,000, and Twin Lakes Terrace over $140,000.
Lambton Meadowview Villa, Marshall Gowland Manor and Sumac Lodge each receive about $85,000.
