Sarnia police arrested a break-and-enter suspect hiding behind a shed in the city's south end Thursday morning, following a lengthy foot pursuit through several back yards and over fences.
Officers responded to a break-in call at a home in the 300 block of Savoy Street at around 8:30 a.m.
Police said the suspect fled the area after being confronted by an occupant at the front door inside an enclosed porch.
An officer spotted a suspect entering a back yard which led to a foot pursuit through several yards and over fences. Police said the suspect, found hiding behind a shed, was arrested after a brief struggle. No one was hurt.
A search of the man allegedly resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, property belonging to another individual that had been stolen, a hatchet, folding knife, and a rock hammer.
A 30-year-old Sarnia man faces charges of break and enter, drug possession, weapon possession, property obtained by crime, and resisting a peace officer.
