Sarnia meal-kit service supports local producers, businesses

Those hesitant to leave their homes during the pandemic can take advantage of a Sarnia-based meal-kit service that uses locally sourced products.

Call The Chef offers pre-packaged ingredients and recipe cards so residents can make meals in the comfort of their own homes.

Owner Vanessa Lobodzinski said they've partnered with some local farmers and businesses to offer the service.

"We are using businesses like Gourmet Café to get our focaccia bread, and we're using Bluewater Beef and Davy Jones," said Lobodzinski. "We're getting our cheese from Great Lakes Dairy, we get our pasta made fresh from Salvatore's, and the Sarnia Farmers' Market as well. We're just sourcing everything locally that we possibly can."

Lobodzinski said the community's response has been positive so far, and said people have even held virtual cooking parties with their friends.

She said they're offering free delivery throughout the month of January.
