Cool 106.3's morning man lost a friendly wager and now has to jump in the lake.
Max Major made a bet with an American listener on the outcome of Tuesday night's world junior hockey gold medal game between Canada and the U.S.
The Canadian loss means Max will take a polar plunge into Lake Huron this Saturday at noon.
Max said the listener, Robert Duff of Fort Gratiot, Michigan, has graciously agreed to also take the plunge, and they're hoping to raise money for the Canadian and American cancer societies in the process.
"Robert called me up Wednesday morning -- some good natured chirping involved -- but he also says 'you know what, I'm going to jump in the lake the same time you do, and I'm going to try and raise $1,000 for the American Cancer Society while I do it.' Well I'm already jumping in the lake," said Max. "So I'm not going to let you outdo me again in hockey and in fundraising, so I'm going to try and raise $1,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, and now we're fighting to see who can fundraise better before the polar dip on Saturday."
