'Suspected outbreak' measures in place at two county-run homes

Additional precautionary measures are in place at two Lambton County-run long-term care homes.

General Manager of Long Term Care, Jane Joris said Wednesday a person who attended at Petrolia's Lambton Meadowview Villa on December 16 subsequently tested positive for COVID-19. A different person who was at Sarnia's Marshall Gowland Manor on the same date also tested positive.

As a result, both homes are working under "suspected outbreak" precautions.

Joris said anyone who was in close contact with either of the individuals has been tested and is in isolation, and that no residents or staff in the two homes have tested positive.

Enhanced protocols are in place in the homes and staff are closely monitoring the situation. If any one staff or resident tests positive, the home will implement outbreak protocols in consultation with Lambton Public Health.

As of Wednesday, there was just one long-term care outbreak declared by the health unit, at Trillium Villa in Sarnia where two staff members tested positive.
