Former Sarnia Sting star Steven Stamkos' unlikely Stanley Cup goal has been chosen by Sports Illustrated as its 2020 Play of the Year.
Battling a lower body injury, the Tampa Bay Lightning captain's time on the ice during the entire playoffs amounted to just two minutes and 47 seconds in Game 3 of the final against the Dallas Stars. Despite that, he managed to score a vintage Stamkos goal, and the Lightning went on to claim the franchise's second Stanley Cup with a 2-0 win in Game 6.
What a way to cap off this crazy year. Thanks @SInow for this really cool honor. https://t.co/tO0x4uWddk
