Windsor man charged for armed robbery

One man has been arrested following an armed robbery at a home in Sarnia on Thursday.

A 45-year-old Corunna man went to visit an acquaintance in the 200 block of South Mitton Street, when the accused man, who was also at the residence, directed the victim and his friend into a bedroom.

Following an exchange of cash between the victim and the friend over a purchased item, the accused allegedly pulled out and pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded that he hand over the rest of his money.

The victim, who was not familiar with the accused, refused to comply with the order despite him believing the gun was real. Eventually, the man escaped the home safely and drove to a nearby business before calling 911.

When police responded to the home, the accused attempted to evade officers on foot. Police also located two imitation handguns while they pursued the suspect, they subsequently arrested the male a short distance away without incident.

Dario Thomas Angelo, 25, of Windsor has been charged with possession of a firearm, two counts of breach of probation, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, use of an imitation firearm during robbery, and robbery with an offensive weapon.

Angelo was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded into custody.
