Lambton-Kent public school board, elementary teachers reach agreement

The Lambton Kent District School Board and the union representing its elementary teachers have reached a tentative contract agreement.

Contract details will be released pending ratification by both parties.

“We are pleased to reach a tentative agreement with the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Lambton Kent Teacher Local,” said Chair Jane Bryce. “We appreciate the ongoing dedication and commitment of ETFO staff to supporting student achievement and well-being.”

Local President Laurel Liddicoat-Newton said the agreement was arrived at after nine long days at the bargaining table.

“Our members experienced a very challenging round of provincial bargaining this year. In contrast, local bargaining has been relatively collaborative and respectful,” said Liddicoat-Newton. “We believe what has been bargained is fair and meets the needs of our members but, ultimately, LKETFO members will decide whether to accept this tentative local agreement.”

A provincial collective agreement between ETFO, the Council of Trustees’ Association and the Government of Ontario was ratified in April 2020.
