Sarnia pro hockey player has new team

A pro hockey player from Sarnia has a new team.

Carolyne Prevost, 30, was one of 25 skaters introduced as members of Toronto-based Team Sonnet of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) Wednesday morning.

The association, dedicated to promoting professional women's hockey, was founded in May 2019 following the dissolution of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL).

Prevost, a multisport athlete, spent seven seasons in the CWHL, six with the Toronto Furies -- in 165 regular-season games, she scored 53 goals and 56 assists.

The Saint-François-Xavier School grad signed on with the PWHPA in 2019 and took part in the association's first Dream Gap Tour -- the second season, featuring Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Minnesota and New Hampshire, is set for 2021.
