County-wide rural food drive a huge success

The first-ever "Neighbour 2 Neighbour" food drive across rural Lambton county is being termed a huge success.

Volunteers fanned out across the county on November 7 and were able to collect over 45,000 pounds of food and over $15,000.

Community Coordinator Alan Broad is thrilled with the response and said the food and money will go toward many great causes.

That includes the Watford, Alvinston, and Oil Springs food banks, Petrolia's Christmas for Everyone campaign, the Inn of the Good Shepherd, and various school nutrition programs.

Broad isn't sure if they'll do another food drive next year, and said to stay tuned for future plans.
