Sarnia police offer advice on door-to-door solicitation

November 20, 2020 1:24pm
Sarnia police are again urging residents to be cautious about door-to-door salespeople.
Police said they’ve looked into complaints about people trying to sell goods or solicit money for various charities.
They remind residents that they have the right to ask to see identification and a city permit, and that if they’re not comfortable not to answer the door in the first place.
If a solicitor is persistent and threatening, police say close the door and call them at 519-344-8861 extension 0.
Police said nothing sinister has occurred to this point, they’re just being proactive to ensure everyone’s safety.
