Sarnia police are holding the 8th Annual Cops for Cans on Saturday.

Cst. John Sottosanti said members of the Sarnia Police Service will be at No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, and Walmart from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“The intention of Cops for Cans is to accept donations of various non-perishable food items that will be forwarded to the Inn of the Good Shepherd food bank,” said Sottosanti. “This year has been an extra tough year for many in our community and the Inn food bank is in need of assistance to help ensure that those in need have food on their shelves.”

Sottosanti said police service members will be taking measures to ensure that they and members of the public are COVID safe.

Last year’s event collected a record 11,879 pounds of food.
