City puts out call for committee volunteers, applications down

The City of Sarnia is issuing a final call for citizens interested in providing ideas and input to shape city policies and decisions.

Deputy City Clerk Amy Burkhart hopes to have a diverse group of individuals, with various skills, expertise and experience, making recommendations on important civic matters.

"The City of Sarnia is currently seeking applications from citizens who are interested in serving on various advisory boards and committees for council," said Burkhart. "Council will be considering the appointments on December 7 and the deadline to submit applications is Monday, November 23 at noon."

Burkhart said the positions are volunteer-based and appointments are for two-year terms.

"There are approximately 15 committees that we're seeking applications for, who provide a variety of advice and recommendations to council on a wide variety of subjects."

Burkhart said the number of applications received so far is down compared to other years.

"We're finding that response to the application process is slightly lower than average, so we're hoping people hear the message and apply for these committees and vacancies by Monday at noon."

Full details on the volunteer responsibilities for each board or committee and how to apply can be found here.
