$50K reward offered in Kettle and Stony Point homicide

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder of David Jordan Oliver last summer.

The 29-year-old Kettle and Stony Point First Nation resident was found dead at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2 in a field near 9356 Army Camp Rd. in Lambton Shores.

Police said his red Dodge Ram pickup truck was also located in a bush nearby.

OPP Regional Media Relations Coordinator Derek Rogers said the OPP's Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) and the Anishinabek Police Service have conducted an extensive investigation and followed up on several tips from the public.

"Any kind of information that the public can come forward with that they have not brought to our attention before would be very welcome," said Rogers. "I was able to speak with the mother of the victim, Carla Oliver, and the family's heartbroken. They don't know why this happened, they don't know why somebody would want to murder their son. They're looking for answers, they're looking to bring this to a resolution."

Rogers said the investigation is ongoing.

"We're certainly hoping that this kind of stimulus can really give us the tips that we need in this particular case," he said. "We know there are individuals out there that have yet to come forward with information and we want to make sure that they do that."

Anyone with information is urged to call a toll-free tip line dedicated to the investigation, 1-833-525-8477 or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
