GOJHL wants fans in the stands this upcoming season

With one month to go before this season's targeted start date, the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) is working on a plan to have fans in the stands.

The GOJHL, which includes the Sarnia Legionnaires, wants to have arenas at 30 per cent capacity, provided there's enough room to maintain two metres of physical distancing.

If assigned seating isn't available, a maximum of 150 spectators will be permitted.

The league is also calling for assigned seating to be made available, with members of extended households sitting together. Those in attendance will be asked to wear a mask, avoid congregating in the lobby, and stay two metres away from players as they enter and exit the ice surface and dressing rooms.

Teams are also being asked to track spectators, and make sure standing room areas with no assigned seats are cordoned off.

The measures must be approved by local public health authorities.

The GOJHL is planning to start the 2020-21 regular season on December 2, barring any setbacks.

It will be a 40-game regular season, with the regular 24-team playoff format split between the three conferences.
