OPP lay 31 traffic-related charges at Grand Bend

An organized racing event that saw street cars compete at the Grand Bend Motorplex also brought out some speeders on local streets.

There was an increased police presence in the Lake Huron resort community during the “Drifting Pumpkin Finale” hosted by the Canadian Sport Compact Series on October 24 and 25.  As a result, a total of 31 traffic-related charges were laid.

The OPP said officers laid charges for speeding (13), stunt driving (4), not wearing a seat belt (1), among other charges under the Highway Traffic Act (13).

"The OPP will continue to educate the motoring public through enforcement and continued visibility," the OPP said in a news release. "The OPP will remain diligent in targeting the 'BIG4' traffic related offences; aggressive, distracted driving, impaired driving and seatbelt use."
