Wyoming Lions donate $50K to health and wellness centre

Plympton-Wyoming's new health and wellness centre, under construction on Broadway Street, is getting a big financial boost.

The Wyoming Lions Club is contributing $50,000 over the next few years to be put toward the remodelling of the former TD Bank building, donated by the company in 2019.

Club President Joe Joosten said the club is thrilled to be able to help.

"The Wyoming Lions Club is pleased to pledge $50,000 in support of the new Plympton-Wyoming Health and Wellness Centre," said Joosten. "The centre is a needed and welcome asset for our community. Wyoming Lions are proud to add the Wellness Centre to our record of projects - the swimming pool, splash pad, trail, ball diamonds, playground equipment, and more - that show our commitment to the community that supports us."

Mayor Lonny Napper is happy with the community support.

"The Plympton-Wyoming Wellness Center is going to be a wonderful addition to our community; offering both physician appointments and a variety of informative clinics. It is wonderful when charitable organizations and municipalities can work towards beneficial projects such as this one."

Napper had previously said the plan is to have outreach programs for things like diabetes, smoking cessation, and healthy babies.

He said it could become a full-fledged medical clinic in the future.

The Plympton-Wyoming Agriculture Society previously donated $25,000 toward the project.

It's currently slated to be complete in November or December 2020.
