Local COVID cases increase by one, recoveries by four

The active COVID-19 caseload dropped by three in Sarnia-Lambton over the past 24 hours.

Lambton Public Health reported one new case and four more recovered cases Sunday night, dropping the active cases locally to 10.

A second staff member has been confirmed positive at Twin Lakes Terrace where an outbreak was declared last Thursday.

Lambton Medical Officer of Health Dr. Sudit Ranade said the second case was not unexpected.

"I can't really talk about that in detail, but I can describe the fact that we had another symptomatic person that we were waiting on testing for," said Ranade. "So, we were kind of expecting that test to come back positive."

An outbreak is also in effect at an unidentified workplace after three people tested positive for the virus.

Since the pandemic started, there have been 363 confirmed cases and 328 have been deemed resolved.  The death toll is unchanged in over four months and stands at 25.
