A brand new LED display board is now welcoming residents to Sarnia’s Canatara Park.

The four foot by eight foot full-colour message board has been installed at the Christina Street entrance.

Sarnia GM of Community Services Stacey Forfar said they no longer have to put up letters by hand which was a tedious task.

She said a lot of useful information can be displayed.

“It will display the date and time and that kind of stuff but, more importantly, it’s really a great link to push out events and things that are happening around the community,” said Forfar. “Obviously it’s been a bit more of a challenging situation this year, but ideally we’ll be well-positioned as we start to relaunch some of those things in the future.”

Forfar said the cost of the sign is upwards of $30,000 and was generously donated by council’s Communities In Bloom committee.

Sure Signs Inc. and OES Scoreboards helped city crews with the installation.

Forfar says it’s part of the city’s effort to further beautify local parks.

The entrances to Germain, Centennial, and Veterans Parks have also been upgraded in recent years.
