Lambton OPP arrest two males with impaired driving related charges

Two young men were charged after police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Plympton-Wyoming over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Lambton County OPP responded to a report of a car in the ditch on Confederation Line at around 4 p.m. last Friday. When officers arrived, they observed a second vehicle attempting to drive the other out of the ditch.

Police discovered that the male driver initially drove into the ditch on the north side of the road. When the man attempted to pull back onto the road, he overcorrected which caused the car to spin and enter the south ditch. During the ordeal, a hydro pole was severed.

When officers spoke with the first driver, they became suspicious that he had consumed alcohol. A roadside test was conducted, and the man was arrested after the two samples he provided failed the screening. Upon speaking to the second male, officers suspected that he had also consumed alcohol. The driver refused to provide any samples to the police for screening, and he was subsequently arrested for not complying with the demand.

Zachary Lacroix, 21, of Sarnia, was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 plus. Jaret Scarrow, 21, of Petrolia, was charged with refusing to comply with demands.

Both men are scheduled to appear in a Sarnia courtroom on December 14, 2020.
