Sarnia police are reminding residents not to purchase items sight unseen after several victims were defrauded over the weekend.
Police said an online ad was placed on Kijiji for a 1971 Datsun 240Z, with a shot engine, with an asking price of $5,000.
Multiple victims, from the GTA, responded and agreed to put down a deposit via e-transfer to hold the vehicle.
Police said the victims then agreed to meet the scam artist at a Mitton Street address to complete the transaction, but nobody ever showed and the money was gone.
