UPDATE: Vehicles collide after attempted traffic stop, three taken to hospital

A two-vehicle crash that occurred after an attempted traffic stop early Thursday morning sent three people to hospital.

At 5:18 a.m. police said an officer tried to stop a vehicle that was driving erratically.

The vehicle fled from police and collided with another vehicle a short time later at the intersection of Indian Road and Talfourd Street.

Police said a man and woman in the suspect vehicle and a man in the other vehicle were taken to hospital for assessment.

Indian Road was closed between Wellington Street and Devine Street while the investigation continued.

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in and city police said they will not be providing further information.

The SIU is an independent civilian agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault.
