'No GALA Gala' planned for St. Joseph's Hospice

This year's gala for St. Joseph's Hospice is expected to raise about 70 per cent less than last year.

Because of the ongoing pandemic, the annual gala will be held virtually instead of the usual sellout crowd gathering at Degroot's Nurseries.

Fund Development Manager Maria Muscadere said the 2019 gala raised about $158,000 towards programs and services offered through the hospice.

She said they're hoping for about $45,000 this year.

"It's a huge impact to the way that we are able to provide our programs and services," said Muscadere. "Each year we need to raise $1.6 million, and that's 57 per cent of our budget, so fundraising is a big part of how the hospice runs each and every day and how we keep our doors open."

Muscadere said the No GALA Gala on November 7th will feature a virtual concert by One Man Out, as well as an online silent auction.

Tickets are $125 and available by phone through the hospice at  519-337-0537.
