Petrolia student raising funds for Bluewater Health children's department

A Grade 7 student from Queen Elizabeth II Public School in Petrolia is fundraising to purchase tablets for children to use at Bluewater Health.

Jacob Bell, 12, said he noticed the need when he was recently admitted to the Maternal Infant Child Department.

"I'm fundraising to get tablets so kids aren't so bored," said Bell. "I was in that hospital and I was seeing a little girl cry. It broke my heart. So, I was thinking, 'what would make them get their minds off of this?,' and I thought tablets would be the perfect idea."

Bell said he would like to raise enough money to purchase ten tablets for the hospital.

His mom is helping him sell Kernels Popcorn until September 20 to fundraise.

Anyone interested in purchasing bags for $2.25 each is asked to email popcorn4kids@gmail.com.

Orders will be dropped off on your porch.

Anyone interested in donating that doesn't want popcorn can do so at bwhf.ca/donate.

You can choose the dropdown box for "Maternal Infant Child" and in the comment box write "Jacob's Tablet Fundraiser."

Tax receipts will be issued for donations made through the hospital foundation's site.
